DFS (Dynamic Feedback System)

An educational feedback device designed to facilitate in class multiple choice quizzes, automated attendance tracking, real time student feedback, and improve the effectiveness of large scale video conferencing by providing automated camera pan and zoom functionality.
DFS II:
What: Production quality low-power wireless ZigBee system designed in to interface with the UNSW (University of New South Wales) VTL (Virtual Teaching Laboratory).
Why: The system facilitates real-time communication between lecturers & students to enhance the effectiveness of lectures.
How: In addition to anonymous feedback, the DFS also supports a quiz mode, logs attendance and helps optimise video conferencing effectiveness. System based around PIC18LF4620 microcontroller and has been designed for low power operation.
Mode 1: Capable of delivering real time audience feedback to presenter
Mode 2: Facilitates real time multiple choice quizzes
Mode 3: Enhances video conferencing effectiveness for large groups by identifying the person speaking and automatically zooming in on them

Note: Permission received from the Lagoon Group to use the “Quizmo” enclosure for initial trials.
